Data Deletion Instructions

Editable draft for internal testing. Bracketed details must be completed before this is used as a published policy.

Draft contact details

DRAFT FOR INTERNAL TESTING — complete before publication. Operator: [LEGAL NAME AND ADDRESS]. Send privacy and deletion requests to [MONITORED EMAIL]. The operator must monitor this address and have a working deletion process before inviting participants.

How to request deletion

Email the privacy contact with the subject “Stumbo test data deletion”. Include your entry reference if you have one and the mobile number used for the test. If you do not have a reference, say so. Do not send your full ID/passport number, identity-document scan, password or API token.

Verification and scope

We will use proportionate checks to verify that the request concerns your own entry. Tell us whether you want to withdraw the entry and delete its details, uploaded media and associated messages. We will explain any information that must be retained for a lawful reason and the applicable period. Removing information needed for participation may prevent further processing of the entry.

Timing and backups

[INSERT A RESPONSE TARGET YOU CAN ACTUALLY MEET.] We will acknowledge the request, explain the next steps and confirm the outcome. Backup copies may remain until the documented backup cycle expires: [INSERT BACKUP EXPIRY]. If a backup is restored, completed deletion requests must be applied again. We cannot erase messages already stored in your own WhatsApp account or independently controlled Meta systems; use the relevant provider’s privacy tools for those copies.

STOP and deletion are different

Replying STOP stops optional WhatsApp updates; it does not erase your submission. Use the privacy contact above for deletion. These instructions describe a staff-handled request process, not an automatic Meta deletion callback.

Complaints

If you are dissatisfied, contact the operator or South Africa’s Information Regulator at https://inforegulator.org.za/ or enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.
